Tool Introduction

The Online Fraction Simplification Tool can quickly simplify a fraction into its simplest fraction form.

The simplest fraction form means the numerator and denominator have no common positive integer divisor—that is, the fraction cannot be reduced any further. In the simplest fraction form, the greatest common divisor of the numerator and denominator is 1. For example:

The fraction 4/8 is not in simplest form because it can be divided by 2 and simplified to 1/2.

The fraction 3/9 is also not in simplest form because it can be divided by 3 and simplified to 1/3.

The fraction 5/7 is in simplest fraction form because 5 and 7 have no common divisor and cannot be reduced any further.

The simplest fraction form is more convenient in mathematical operations because it is easier to compare and calculate.
