About the Water Intake Calculator
The online water intake calculator uses a scientifically recommended water-intake formula to calculate how much water you need to drink in a day, helping you drink at the right times and develop healthy, good drinking habits. Water is vital to the human body, and developing good drinking habits helps promote health.
Whether you are working out to lose fat, sitting for long hours at the office, studying late into the night, wanting to improve your physical condition, or simply want to know "how much water should I actually drink in a day", just enter your weight to instantly get your personalized drinking recommendation.
Typically, an adult needs 6 to 8 glasses of water (about 1.5-2 L) per day to replenish the water lost through daily activities, and water intake varies with weight and type of work.
For example, for knowledge workers, who sweat less, daily water intake is about 0.033 times body weight; but for manual laborers, who lose more water through heavy sweating, daily water intake is about 0.043 times body weight.
For ease of calculation and applicability to everyone, water intake is usually taken as 0.04 times body weight (kg). For example, a 60 kg person has a water intake of about 60 × 0.04 = 2.4 L.
The average person can refer to the following schedule for scientific hydration:
- 1. 6:30 AM: After a full night of sleep, the body is already becoming dehydrated. So after getting up, you can first drink 250 ml of water, which helps the kidneys and liver detoxify and enhances digestion.
- 8:30 AM: You have just sat down at the office, and work and emotions are somewhat tense; the body imperceptibly becomes dehydrated, so you should first replenish with a 200 ml glass of water.
- 11:00 AM: After working all morning, it is time for your third glass of water of the day.
- 12:50 PM: Drinking a glass of water half an hour after lunch can strengthen your digestion.
- 3:00 PM: Replacing coffee or tea with a glass of plain water at this time can equally refresh your mind.
- 5:30 PM: Before leaving the office, drink another glass of water to increase your sense of fullness, so you will not overeat at dinner.
- 10:00 PM: You can drink another glass of water about 0.5-1 hour before bedtime. However, do not drink too much at once, otherwise increased nighttime bathroom trips will affect your sleep quality.
Of course, the calculated result is for reference only; there is no need to stick rigidly to the exact figure and guidance, and you can flexibly adjust your hydration according to your own situation.

Water Intake FAQ
What is the daily water intake based on?
This tool uses a common healthy water-intake reference formula: daily water intake (liters) = weight (kg) × 0.04. This is a fairly universal recommended value internationally, suitable as a reference for the average adult.
Does weight need to be precise to a decimal?
No. An integer is fine; the difference has little effect on the result.
Is it okay if I drink less than the calculated value?
Yes. This is a recommended value, not a hard standard. Different people vary due to exercise, sweating, climate, diet, and more.
Who is this tool suitable for?
It suits people who: work out or lose fat; sit for long hours at the office; work or study late into the night; want to adjust their lifestyle; or do not know how much water to drink each day. Basically anyone can use it as a reference.
Why is it called a recommended value rather than a required amount?
Everyone's physical condition is different, and water needs also change with temperature, exercise, and diet, so this result is only a health reference standard.
Is the result in liters (L)?
Yes. The result is given in liters (L), which better matches everyday drinking habits.
